In Kelsey’s words

Therapy for children, teens, adults, and families in Wheelersburg, Ohio

I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel truly heard, understood, and empowered.

My goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where children, adolescents, young adults, and families can explore challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful change. I work with children, adolescents, and adults ages 5 and older.

I have experience supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, emotional and behavioral challenges, trauma, grief, self-esteem concerns, family conflict, school-related stressors, and major life transitions. I enjoy working collaboratively with children, families, and caregivers to develop practical tools that strengthen relationships, improve emotional regulation, and promote growth both at home and in everyday life.

My therapeutic approach is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized to each client’s unique needs. I incorporate evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, attachment-informed interventions, strengths-based practices, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). As an EMDR-trained therapist, I use this evidence-based approach to support clients in processing difficult experiences, reducing distress associated with trauma, and moving toward healing and greater emotional well-being.

Whether supporting a child, adolescent, adult, or family, I am committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care and creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust, safety, and collaboration.

About Kelsey

Meet Kelsey Shepherd, LISW, LICDC

Kelsey’s style is warm, collaborative, and steady. She makes room for young people and their families to say what is really going on, then shapes the work around what each client actually needs rather than a fixed program. Sessions are built on trust, safety, and collaboration, and the pace is set with the client rather than for them.

The approaches Kelsey uses

Kelsey draws on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, trauma-informed care, attachment-informed interventions, strengths-based practices, and EMDR. As an EMDR-trained therapist, she uses it to help clients process difficult experiences, reduce the distress that trauma leaves behind, and move toward healing and greater emotional well-being.

Working with children, teens, and families

Kelsey works with children, adolescents, and adults ages 5 and older, and she enjoys working alongside families and caregivers rather than only with one person in the room. Together you build practical tools that strengthen relationships, improve emotional regulation, and support growth at home, at school, and in everyday life.

Care that fits your family’s life

Kelsey sees clients in person in Wheelersburg and by secure telehealth anywhere in Ohio, including Portsmouth, New Boston, Lucasville, and the rest of Scioto County. Whether you are looking for support for your child, your teenager, yourself, or your family as a whole, the first step is simply telling us what is going on.

I am passionate about helping clients recognize their strengths, navigate life’s challenges, and develop the confidence and skills needed to thrive.

EMDR therapy

Kelsey is EMDR trained and uses it to help the brain reprocess difficult experiences, so a memory can feel like something that happened rather than something you are still living through. If you are curious how it actually works, we walk through it step by step.
